British American Oil
Filling up at a British American gas station in Millet, Alberta, Canada. In 1941 because of physical ailments, Ferdinand and Mary Dargatz Welke sold their homestead of 160 acres and bought a little store with a BA gas station in Millet.
WWII South Pacific Marines
In December of 1941, the Japanese Imperial army invaded the Philippines. By May of 1942, the Japanese had defeated the Philippine army and their allies the US military. Japan's conquest of the Philippines is often considered the worst military defeat in US history.
Olga and William
Up until recently I was not sure who were the lady and gentleman in the picture above. Since then, I am fairly certain of who they are. The couple most likely were Olga Dargatz and William George Bienert. Here is my reasoning.
German Measles
Today, I only have a sad story for you. These are beautiful twin girls, Iva and Ada Wright. They were born about 1905 to Christopher Columbus Wright and Ava Pearl Morgan.

Dargatz Man Unknown
This photograph is from the Mary M. Dargatz collection. There is an unknown male standing in front of an early car from the 1910s. The location is probably in Alberta, Canada.

Interstate Cafe in Rainier
Here is the quintessential 1950s dinner. The Interstate Cafe was located in Rainier, Oregon. This picture was taken about 1950. Ferdinand Welke and his wife Mary Dargatz (both immigrants) lived and worked in Rainer for a number of years.
Rasors of Carter Tennessee
Here is the Rasor family. Taken about 1895 in Carter County Tennessee, the family had lived in the area for several generations.
BT Trainer
Baxter Lowe and his co-pilot Genevieve Richards are about to take off in a plane. On the back of the picture is written “BT Trainer.” They owned the plane and kept it at Clover City Airport. After a little research, I think this plane is a BT-14 Trainer.
1920’s Biker Chick
Here we have a woman out riding around on a motor bike. I am not sure when this picture was taken. Although if I was to guess it was captured in the mid to late 1920’s. The place is around Portland, Oregon.
Bowen Wedding Portrait
Here we have a young couple on their wedding day. William Booker Bowen (called Booker by friends and family) married Ada Evaline Smith in the winter of 1899. They were married for 30 years before Ada passed away at the age of 50 in 1929. Booker went on to live for another 25 years, passing away in 1954 at the age of 83.
Ebenezer B.K. Gurney
Ebenezer Bourne Kane Gurney was a pillar of his community. He wrote “The History of Hanson” for a book on the history of Plymouth County.
Zella Cole
Zella Cole was a victim of the White Death aka Tuberculosis. She died young at the age of 26. Zella was the daughter of Robert Cole and Mary C. Lowe. She was born on 24 April 1889 in Carter County, Tennessee.
1920’s Mountaineering
Here is a group of mountaineers trekking in the snow. Possibly trekking up Mt. Hood in Oregon?
1930’s Chevrolet Coupe
