Baxter Lowe and his co-pilot Genevieve Richards are about to take off in a plane. On the back of the picture is written “BT Trainer.” They owned the plane and kept it at Clover City Airport. After a little research, I think this plane is a BT-14 Trainer.
According to the National Museum of the United States Air Force, “The NA-58, Army Air Corps designation BT-14, was a basic trainer developed by North American from its earlier BT-9. Except for the fabric-covered movable surfaces on the tail and wings, the BT-14 was an all metal aircraft. The Army Air Corps purchased 251 BT-14s.” Apparently, only 40 BT-14s exist today with only 15 capable of flight.
I wonder what happened to the plane in the picture.
