Filling up at a British American gas station in Millet, Alberta, Canada. In 1941 because of physical ailments, Ferdinand and Mary Dargatz Welke sold their homestead of 160 acres and bought a little store with a BA gas station in Millet.

Here is the quintessential 1950s dinner. The Interstate Cafe was located in Rainier, Oregon. This picture was taken about 1950. Ferdinand Welke and his wife Mary Dargatz (both immigrants) lived and worked in Rainer for a number of years.
1920’s Biker Chick
Here we have a woman out riding around on a motor bike. I am not sure when this picture was taken. Although if I was to guess it was captured in the mid to late 1920’s. The place is around Portland, Oregon.
Bowen Wedding Portrait
Here we have a young couple on their wedding day. William Booker Bowen (called Booker by friends and family) married Ada Evaline Smith in the winter of 1899. They were married for 30 years before Ada passed away at the age of 50 in 1929. Booker went on to live for another 25 years, passing away in 1954 at the age of 83.
Ebenezer B.K. Gurney
Ebenezer Bourne Kane Gurney was a pillar of his community. He wrote “The History of Hanson” for a book on the history of Plymouth County.
Zella Cole
Zella Cole was a victim of the White Death aka Tuberculosis. She died young at the age of 26. Zella was the daughter of Robert Cole and Mary C. Lowe. She was born on 24 April 1889 in Carter County, Tennessee.

Campbell and Bowen
William was inducted into the US Army only 5 months after they were married in July of 1918. In November of that same year, he was overseas in France. He served in the 304 MTC repair unit, or the Motor Transport Corps.
