Welcome

Welcome to the new Genealogist Journal! It feels good to be back after a long hiatus.

In 2012 I started blogging to share genealogical finds and photographs with family members, known and yet unknown. Genealogist Journal evolved over the years. As my academic career intensified when I entered a Master’s in History degree program, blogging took a back seat.

Now as a trained historian my goal for Genealogist Journal is to synthesize historical and genealogical research to deepen our understanding of history and its influence on our ancestor’s lives.

History is so much more than names and dates in a textbook. It is a kaleidoscope of people, perspectives, and actions that ultimately define our societies today. Genealogy is much the same with an added personal element. To me, the study of history brings to life my family history and vice versa.
