Andersonville POW Camp Video

Here is a video of Andersonville military camp done by Weird History. They explore what it was like to be a prisoner of war in Georgia at the notorious Fort Sumter or more commonly known as Andersonville. They bring to life the experience of union soldiers through prisoner accounts and imagery. The video is just over ten minutes long but provides a solid history and personal experiences of Andersonville during the American Civil War.

I found the documentary enlightening and helped me to understand the experiences of POWs during the American Civil War. Having a few ancestors who were prisoners of war during the Civil War I am interested in learning about their time in military prisons and how that shaped the rest of their lives.

Thank you for reading.
