5 Year Old Edwin Lee Evans

Edwin Lee Evans

Edwin Lee Evans was born 2 July 1930 in Burbank California.

His father was Paul Monroe Evans who was a career police officer for the Burbank Police Department. Edwin’s mother was Jewell P. Shields daughter of Lawrence Wilbur Shields and Ethel Corine Taylor.

The picture dates to about 1935, making Edwin around five years old.

Almost certainly the location is near Burbank California. As with all children, in any era, he is showing off some of his best clothes while squinting into the sun.

At the young age of 22 years, old Ella took sick and died less than two months after giving birth to her daughter Elizabeth.

Edith Annabelle Evans Pinkerton

Edith, my great grandmother, went by her middle name Annabelle. She was born 15 August 1907 in Los Angeles California. She was the daughter of William Manson Evans and May Belle Moreland. Annabelle’s uncle was Watt Moreland, who owned the Moreland Motor Truck Company. This photograph dates early 1940s, in the Glendale California area. She is about 33 years old in this picture and is married to William Douglass Pinkerton, Sr. with three children. I remember my great grandmother as a lovely lady who deeply cared for her family. She taught me to play jacks on her kitchen floor and in her backyard, how to play croquet.

Robert Evans and Hulk Kitty

Robert Gene Evans, son of William Manson Evans and May Belle Moreland, is holding a cat, Hulk Kitty, almost as big as he is! Robert looks to be about five to six years old, which would date this photo about 1930. Robert, the baby of the family, was born 10 September 1925 in Burbank, California. In the 1930 United States Federal Census, the Evans family was living in San Fernando, California, only about fifteen minutes north of Burbank.
