Russ and Margorie

Russell Marion Martindale married Margorie Ellen Pinkerton on 11 September 1949 in Grants Pass, Oregon. The above photograph was taken that same year in 1949. They were married for thirty-two years before Margorie passed away in 1981. The same year as her father, William Douglass Pinkerton, Sr.

Annabelle and Robert

Edith Annabelle Evans is posing with her youngest brother Robert Gene Evans. They were the children of William Manson Evans and May Belle Moreland. Eighteen years separated these two. Annabelle was born on 15 August 1907 in Los Angeles, California. At the age of eighteen in 1925, the year Robert was born, Annabelle married William Douglass Pinkerton, Sr. They were married for fifty-six years and had three children. Robert was born on 10 September 1925 in Burbank, California, located north of Los Angeles and home to the long-forgotten Moreland Motor Truck Company. Robert married Ruth Evelyn Willford in 1949.

Lowe’s Tavern

Built by Jacob Lowe, Sr. between 1810 and 1830, the tavern and stagecoach stop. The tavern was located in the little town of Pandora Tennessee along old stagecoach road in the Cherokee National Forest. The picture dates around 1898 with Jacob Lowe’s descendants still in possession of the place.

Wanda Welke

Wanda Welke

Wanda Welke was the daughter of Karl Welke and Euphrosine Gurke. At the age of twelve, orphaned, she immigrated from the war-torn boarder lands of Poland and Russia to the United States in 1920 along with her siblings. The surviving Welke family made their home in Portland Oregon. Their story is one of sorrow, devastation, and hope.
