What is Genealogist Journal?

In 2012, I started blogging to share genealogy with family members known and unknown. The website along with my vision for Genealogist Journal continually evolved over the years. Today, Genealogist Journal strives to synthesize historical and genealogical research to deepen your understanding of history and its influence that shaped your ancestor's lives.

Each week we will explore a new theme through podcasts, personal histories, pictures, sources and books, genealogical tips, and historical context.

About Me:

I was introduced to genealogy by my mother who was the family historian. On quiet afternoons she would bring out boxes filled with family heirlooms. Each item was reverently shown along with a story told.

In 1998 when I realized I was about to bring the next generation into the world, I decided to take up the historian torch. Ever since, my passion for history and genealogy has only grown.

In 2015, I decided to return to college with the goal of becoming a historian. Today, I hold a master’s degree in history with an emphasis in early Soviet Russia. My goal as a historian (professionally and privately) is to help bring the past to life. To understand our society today, we must turn our eyes to our historical and genealogical roots.

Currently, I am developing a comprehensive and easy to use cataloging and archival system for family historians.
